VAPRO organized workshops in Medan, Palembang, Semarang, Cikarang and Makassar, in co-operation with the Ministry of Education, to introduce and promote the new HSE training curriculum and to discuss possibilities to implement the HSE curriculum in other schools and industries in Indonesia. The workshops were carried out as part of the HSE project ‘Implementation Responsible care in Vocational Education and Processing Industries in Indonesia’
During the workshops, which were held in May and June 2010, VAPRO and ITS Surabaya presented information about the new HSE training program. A representative of the Komite Nasional Responsible Care Indonesia (KN-RCI) presented the mission and activities of the world wide chemical industries initiative to achieve and demonstrate continual improvement with regard to safety, health and environmental (SHE) performance.
The workshops were attended by representatives from some 25 vocational schools, not only in the chemical field but also in other fields such as mechanical and electrical, pharmacy and pharmaceutical and aviation. Also some representatives from industry attended the workshops.
A number of vocational schools and companies expressed real interest for the HSE curriculum and the HSE learning materials. As a result of the workshops VAPRO now discusses possibilities for implementation of the HSE program, or parts of it, with these schools and companies.
